Facebook Launches Messenger for Mobile

Facebook announced a standalone mobile messaging app,  Messenger for Mobile will simplify messaging, Facebook blog  said, with both notifications and texts sent so recipients are more likely to receive the notes. The Messenger app is an extension of Facebook messages, so all your conversations are in one place, including your texts, chats, emails and messages. Whether you’re on your phone or on the web, you can see the full history of all your messages.Messenger is available on iPhone and Android devices, and will soon be available on Blackberries. To get the app, search for “Facebook Messenger” in your phone’s app store.
Since the application can access your phone’s contact list, it works with friends who aren’t on Facebook, too.All you have to do is type the person’s name. Now this announce of Facebook Mobile apps  will put the company in direct competition with Research in Motion’s [RIM] BlackBerry Messenger service, which has gained widespread momentum in the youth market, and similar communication services from Apple and Google.Facebook messenger is yet to be made available for download at the official site,but avail at Apple store and Android market.
